Dr Clare Calvert
Clinical Psychologist
(BA Hons, MA, DClinPsych, PG Dip. Cognitive Therapy)
Available for in-person sessions in Napier/Hawkes Bay and online across New Zealand.
I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2005 in the UK, where I worked for the NHS. I moved to New Zealand in 2009 with my husband and three cats and am now a proud NZ citizen. I have worked primarily with adults in the community, as well as in prisons and secure units. I started my small private practice in 2010 alongside my Te Whatu Ora work and now work full-time at Psychology Works NZ.
I work with adults (aged 18 and over) experiencing a range of mental health difficulties, including anxiety/panic, worry, stress, depression, OCD, and trauma. I am trained in and specialized in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Self-Compassion work, Brief Solution Focused Therapy (BSFT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) - you can read more about these approaches here.
Please note, I do not offer couples therapy, Court reports or assessment reports for Oranga Tamariki.
I aim to be approachable and flexible and enjoy helping people to overcome their difficulties and gain practical skills that will be helpful for life.
I also offer clinical supervision for psychologists and other mental health professionals.
I am registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and I am a member of the New Zealand Psychological Society.
